Today we are going to go over why a Holiday Vacation can be stressful. Avoid these headaches and plan the best trip possible.
Many people plan a holiday vacation to avoid stress, but for some people travel can cause EVEN MORE STRESS. Stress while traveling for a holiday trip can cause mental strain and pressure. If you are worried about traveling this holiday season, or early next year, start with this list on how to get rid of stresses.
We, at Volcano Ohana, want to help you avoid this stress. Whether you will be vacationing with us, or elsewhere, keep this in mind.
1. Choose a relaxing vacation destination
If traveling for a vacation (especially holiday vacations), is stressful for you, try a destination that will be relaxing, yet exciting. A good example is Hawaii. A destination you can see exciting spots, but also have down time. This will allow you to organize your trip around what your group is most interested in doing. From the white sandy beaches, to scuba diving with sea life, there is not better way to spend a trip by having options. Research shows that being spontaneous on trips can help with vacation fatigue, and stress when traveling.
2. Try going off the beaten path, away from the busy tourist attractions
No one likes dealing with big crowds while they are already stressed out from traveling. That said, there are some experiences you should consider skipping on altogether. Overtourism has become an increasing problem. For example, sections of Oahu is the most visited of all the Hawaiian islands, at nearly 4.7 million visitors annually. Oahu is primarily defined by the state capital of Honolulu, as well as Pearl Harbor and the famous beach known as Waikiki. Maui is the second most visited island with around 2.4 million visitors each year.
Maybe the right fit for your crew is an off the beaten path Volcano Adventure. At Volcano Ohana, our goal is to connect our visitors with sights they wouldn’t normally see. These off the beaten path E-Bike Tours, or Private Guided Van Tours are great to relax, and cross off bucket list sights.
3. Plan the bigger details of your trip, and let the little details come as they please
A key aspect of a good trip planner is to correctly estimate the number of days required to visit a destination. A road trip planner would elongate the duration of a trip whereas, a trip planned with flight tickets could be a little shorter.
A trip with a lot of urban destinations will need more time in the sightseeing, and therefore a longer trip duration. Whereas a trip to a tropical beach town would not involve much sightseeing. But as you worry about the hotels, flights, and scheduled itinerary items, we have found, that the smaller details such as food, downtime and free time are best served as they come. If you allow yourself a set amount of time for your scheduled activities, with efficient amount of time blocks in-between, you will be less stressed to hurry, to find food and to please everyone’s wishes. We know how troubling it can be when you are trying to rush to your next scheduled event, but someone has to use the bathroom, or half the party is hungry because there was only so much time to grab food before the last event.
